How inclusion is decided

Inclusion and order in a guide are decided by the criteria stated in that guide. Being a customer of our owner never earns a place, and brands cannot review copy before publication.

Evidence, not invented experience

We write from verifiable facts: published specifications, certifications, ingredient or material lists, prices at the time of writing, and public review counts where they exist. We say "we tested" only when we did, and describe how. We do not show star ratings we did not measure.

Fair comparisons

A comparison includes credible alternatives, including products from companies that are not our owner's customers. When a non-customer product is the better fit for a need, we say so.

Customer products are opt-in

A product from a Boily customer appears in a guide only if that customer has opted in to being featured on CarefulPick. Products from customers who have not opted in are left out. Opting in never guarantees inclusion or position: inclusion and order still follow the criteria stated in the guide.

Disclosure

Every guide carries a disclosure before the main text that names our owner, Boily. Products from Boily customers are labeled individually ("Boily customer"; in Japanese guides, "広告", with an ad label at the top of the guide), and links to them use rel="sponsored".

Regulated claims

We do not make medical, therapeutic or guaranteed-result claims, and we follow advertising rules in the countries we publish for (US FTC Endorsement Guides, Korea's Act on Fair Labeling and Advertising, Japan's Premiums and Representations Act).

How guides are made: AI and automated checks

Guides are generated with AI from the sources cited on each guide. Before publication, every guide must pass automated checks: a claims guard for regulated or prohibited wording, source grounding (numbers, prices, materials and certifications must appear in the cited sources), and rules against claiming hands-on testing or showing ratings. Guides that pass are published automatically; there is no human review before publication. Guides that fail are held and not published.

Our editor-in-chief, Deokgi Kim, is responsible for the site, spot-checks guides after publication, and corrects errors reported to editor@carefulpick.com. Each guide says how it was made.
